Thermowells and protection tubes are designed to work with the temperature sensors and to protect them from harsh conditions. They also allow to remove the temperature instruments without the need to shut down the process.
Thermowells can come in a wide variety of materials: brass, stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, special alloys.
They can be threaded, flanged, tapered and stepped and the design accommodates sensor inserts with different diameters.
They usually are from solid bar stock or welded.
